This workshop will help you to go beyond your own poems, and immerse us in the poems of those masters of the lyric, who have excavated memory, immersed themselves in grief and longing, passion and wonder, and love. We will experience and explore how that process occurs.
We will look at the work of Luce Irigary, Li-Young Lee, Ellen Bryant Voight and the poems we’ll read are by Genega, Gluck, Lee, Kildasa, Komachi, Komunyakaa, Kunitz, Merwin, Orr (Gregory), Pelletiere, Shikibu, Wright, and others. You’ll take away all the poems since I know we won’t cover all of them in the workshop.
